For years my favourite pastime has been film photography. I love experimenting with vintage cameras and different types of film. After giving birth to my son, this took a bit of a back seat in my life and I missed it.
In 2018 I began my journey to become a Doula. As I was preparing to attend my first birth, I asked my client if she was interested in photos and she said yes. I'm so glad because this became the meeting point of my two passions; supporting women through pregnancy and labour and documenting the things in which I find beauty. I was nervous to use film because I wanted to avoid a flash in such an intimate setting and you can never really plan ahead for lighting with a birth. My husband gave me a quick lesson in digital photography and lent me his camera. The rest is history!
